Child Health Policy
EXCLUSION FROM CARE
**Due to Covid-19, we must follow all CDC guidelines for Children and Parents entering our facility***
To make sure each day is a great experience for each child, licensing rules require that all children be observed for signs of illness upon arrival, and prohibit A Mothers Love from caring for any child who is ill.
Because it is often difficult to determine whether symptoms are due to illness or another reason and if existing ailments have not been covered in your health portion of your enrollment packet, we will have to excludes for symptoms. Please do not bring your child if he/she has any of the following symptoms:
- Fever above 101° in the past 24 hours
- Constant, thick, colored nasal discharge
- Vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
- Excessively runny nose
- Breathing issues (wheezing, excessive congestion, croup)
- Contagious or unexplained rash
- Has been on a prescribed medication for less than 24 hours
- Shows other signs of illness
- Requires constant attention
- Refuses to play
- Cries, whines, and/or wants to be held constantly
- Generally seems unwell or unable to participate in a full day’s activities
- Is unable to tolerate a regular diet
- If your child arrives to our facility exhibiting any previously listed symptom, or any other questionable symptom, unfortunately
- A Mothers Love is not allowed to accept the child for care that day.
Your child may return to care when he/she is symptom free for 24 hours; has been appropriately treated by a health care provider; and/or has been given written medical approval to return to child care. It is the parents responsibility to inform A Mothers Love staff if your child has been ill recently or if there is an illness in your family, even if the illness occurred over the weekend. Parental cooperation is essential to maintaining a healthy environment for everyone present at A Mothers Love.
If your child develops any of these symptoms while at our facility, we will notify you and isolate him/her with a staff member. You are expected to reply to the notification promptly, and pick up your child within one hour of notification. If a reply isn’t received promptly, your child’s emergency contact person will be called to pick up the child. Your child may return to care after a full 24 hours has passed after the fever or illness has ended naturally. If a doctor determines that the fever is due to an infection, the child may return 24 hours with a doctor’s written note.
PREVENTATIVE CARE
Licensing requires that immunization forms are kept up to date. Failure to do so will result in your child being excluded from care until the form is updated. Due to the possibility of an adverse reaction to an immunization, children should not be brought to care after receiving immunizations. Please schedule immunizations at the end of the day and plan to keep your child home afterward.
To make sure that your child is able to participate in all of our activities, he/she must have a physical within 30 days of his/her first day of care, and at regularly scheduled intervals afterward. At each physical a Health Report must be completed and signed by a health provider, then submitted to me for your child’s file. Due to licensing regulations, failure to keep Health Reports up to date will result in your child being excluded from care until the forms are updated.
